EMDR Basic Consultation
According to the EMDRIA website, "EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training Curriculum outlines the minimum requirements. These minimum training requirements include: 20 hours instructional material, 20 hours supervised practicum, and 10 hours consultation. The developer of a specific curriculum can enhance or expand any portion.
Consultation provides an opportunity for the integration of the theory of EMDR along with the development of EMDR therapy skills. During consultation trainees receive individualized feedback and instruction in the areas of case conceptualization, client readiness, target selection, treatment planning, specific application of skills, and the integration of EMDR therapy into clinical practice. Consultation is about real cases and not experiences that occur in practicum.
Consultation increases the use of EMDR therapy by those who have received training, reduces the formation of bad habits and the risks of problematic use of EMDR. It also allows the clinician to develop and integrate EMDR therapy skills creatively into their other skills in a way that enhances clinical efficiency and effectiveness in helping a wider range of clients meet their goals for change."

Process:
Prior to any consulting, we would ask that you complete an Agreement. If it is not completed, we may need to cancel consultation until such time as both parties have signed the Agreement. Throughout consultation, you will be expected to complete case conceptualization forms, videotape your EMDR sessions to present to us, and a rating scale on your progress will be completed. When you have completed all ten (10) sessions, we will then complete the necessary documentation and forward it to your trainer to obtain your training certification. If at any time either party does not feel comfortable with the arrangements, you may cease the process and we will complete the documentation necessary to separate from services.
Kathie is an approved Consultant-in-Training and works with Sandra B. Stanford at Central Florida EMDR Training. As such, she may request videotaping her consulting sessions.
Both parties understand that Twice the Therapist Supervision and Consultations, LLC and EMDRIA* are not responsible for verifying any individual clinician's scope of practice or determining the ability to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health issues. Please make sure that you are familiar with your state laws and jurisprudence guidelines and work within the scope of your practice.
*We only work with EMDRIA-Approved Trainers.
